Round up of the Best Credit Card Sign-up Bonuses in June
Hey friends,
Can everyone believe it’s already June… time has flown by this year. I’m looking for a new credit card to sign up for my partner, so I thought I’d share with everyone some of the best sign-up bonuses I’ve found that we will be considering, in this week’s newsletter.
I am on the lookout for a sign-up bonus with lower spending criteria, as we are becoming more conscious of our spending as we need to start saving for our Europe trip next year! So whilst this list won’t have the biggest sign-up bonuses on offer, it’s countered by the lower spend criteria and annual fees as well.
American Express Credit Cards
Whilst my partner isn’t eligible for the sign-up bonus for AMEX, I still thought I’d share that American Express seems to be having upsized sign-up bonuses on several of their credit cards that I thought people might want to consider.
AMEX Explorer - Receive 100,000 Bonus Membership Rewards Points, when you spend $4000 in the first 3 months.
AMEX Qantas Ultimate - Earn up to 90,000 bonus Qantas Points, when you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months.
The AMEX Qantas Ultimate isn’t nearly as good as the previous sign-up bonus (100,000 bonus Qantas Points). Plus for this one, you only receive the full 90,000 bonus points if you keep the card open for at least two years.
Velocity Credit Cards
My partner and I’s past two credit cards that we’ve opened have been Velocity points-earning credit cards. In my opinion, the ability to transfer velocity points across to Krisflyer at a rate of 1.55:1 is an underrated benefit.
NAB Rewards Platinum Card - Up to 80,000 bonus Velocity Points, when you spend $1,000 within the first 60 days, plus a reduced 1st year annual fee of $95.
Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Earn up to 60,000 bonus Velocity Points, when you spend $1.5K for the first two months, plus receive a $129 Virgin Australia travel credit.
We’ve both opened the Velocity Flyer card this year and honestly think it’s one of the best cards to earn Velocity points, the travel credit that comes along with the card more than makes up for the $74 annual fee.
The NAB Rewards Platinum card is a serious contender for our next card as you only need to spend $1,000 to meet the spend criteria!
Citibank Credit Cards
I’ve felt like Citibank credit cards have been a little lackluster over the past year with their sign-up bonuses haven’t been that enticing. However, it seems like they have an upsized sign-up bonus for their Premier card that is worth considering.
Citi Premier Credit Card - 200,000 Citi Reward points, when you spend $7,000 in the first 90 days, plus a reduced annual fee of $150.
The 200,000 reward points are equivalent to $800 in cashback/gift cards, so at a minimum, you’re net positive $650 which is a really good return. Alternatively, you can transfer to Velocity at a rate of 2:1 or Krisflyer at a rate of 2.5:1.
The only drawback of this card in my opinion is the $7,000 spend criteria. Personally I don’t think my partner and I will be able to meet that which is why I won’t be considering this card. But if you can easily meet it, then I would definitely be considering this card!
Qantas Credit Cards
There haven’t been any Qantas credit cards with sign-up bonuses that have caught my attention this month, so unfortunately this section will be empty.
